Paints and coatings

Graphene’s two-dimensional structure in the nanoplatelet form results in very high aspect ratio, high surface area materials which are particularly suited for use as multi-functional additives in paints and coatings.

AGM has developed graphene nanoplatelet dispersions specifically optimised for paints and coatings applications. The unique two-dimensional structure of the AGM nanoplatelets delivers exciting properties, by incorporating our optimised dispersions, AGM is enabling formulators to easily innovate to realise the real benefits of graphene.

How do AGMs Graphene Nanoplatelets work?

AGM’s is proud to offer graphene nanoplatelets dispersions that are safe to handle and easily stirred into new and existing coatings systems to provide a range of enhancing performance benefits. Across our product ranges, we offer different types graphene nanoplatelets. These vary in surface morphology, oxygen content and the number atomic layers but typically have a thickness between 1 to 10nm with 1-25µm lateral platelet diameter, this gives aspect ratios up to 1:1000 and surface areas up to 700m2/g.

With the correct incorporated, graphene nanoplatelets have the potential to significantly enhance an array of properties including mechanical, barrier, thermal, lubricating and electrical performance in new and existing industrial systems.

Polymers and composites

Thermal Adhesives

A-GNP’s two-dimensional graphitic nature in nanoplatelet form can be employed to develop very light-weight and highly-thermal conductive materials.

AGM offers two series of thermal paste adhesive materials.

Typical properties include:

  • High thermal conductivity
  • Very low density
  • Stable from agglomeration and sedimentation (as supplied)
  • Ease of application and mixing
  • Good adhesion and lap shear properties
  • Long shelf life (12 months)

TP series

AGM’s TP series materials are supplied for applications into the Space and Defence sectors.  These novel epoxy adhesive systems exhibit high levels of thermal conductivity (between 3 and 6 W/mK), combined with excellent mechanical, adhesive and outgassing performance. Most significantly these properties are achieved with cured resin densities as low as 40% that of competitive conductive adhesives on the market. Released against qualification data, these materials are highly versatile, while providing end users with significant savings in both mass and cost.

Genable® 4000 series

AGM’s Genable® 4000 series materials are ideal for thermally conductive applications, either used directly as a paste gap filling system, or as a base masterbatch additive for other formulated systems. Use within formulations for bonding, potting, sealing and encapsulation in Industrial, Electronics and Automotive components.
