WE ARE GRAPHENE.

We are pleased to announce that AGM has signed a supply agreement with a global leader in the car detailing industry, for an exclusively developed graphene-based solution.

The partnership with a global household name brand represents a significant milestone for AGM in the car care sector, where the Company has already announced multiple product launches with smaller participants.

With over 80 years’ experience producing award-winning products for the international car care sector, AGM’s new partner is driving innovation in the market and now leads the way in the supply of high-performance auto detailing and finishing products.

The addition of AGM’s Genable graphene nanoplatelet dispersion technology into car care systems has the potential to significantly improve the barrier performance of waxes, polishes and finishing sprays for vehicles.

The new supply agreement underpins the commitment of both companies to continually push the boundaries of advanced materials technology and is reflective of their collaborative approach to successful innovation.

We are delighted to be able to sign this supply agreement and to develop a closer relationship with one of the leading industry players within car care. Innovative manufacturers in this fast-moving market are looking to exploit the differentiation that graphene can offer, so we have seen growing interest in its use for in cleaning and coating products to protect surfaces and improve vehicle aesthetics.

The opportunity to collaborate with a global leader as its supply partner of choice will further strengthen AGM’s position in the sector and the partnership reflects our capability to produce high quality, consistent graphene nanoplatelet dispersions at production volumes.

Adrian Potts, CEO of AGM

We are thrilled to be partnering with AGM and look forward to combining the expertise of both companies to create innovative new products for the car care sector, which are both higher performance and longer lasting.

We are committed to working with cutting-edge technology partners like AGM to drive auto detailing innovation.

We’re pleased to announce that we have successfully registered our Genable logo trade mark in the United States of America under application No. 88/002,006 in Classes 1, 2 and 17.

AGM’s well-established, stable graphene dispersion technology is proven to deliver consistent, reliable performance enhancements in a wide range of liquid coatings and composite materials applications.

The Genable trademark registration underpins the Company’s leading position in the graphene space as it continues to expand activity as a recognisable specialty chemical brand in the US market.

Graphene nanoplatelets have been shown to provide highly effective barrier properties, and enhanced corrosion prevention in protective coating systems.

The adoption by customers of AGM’s high-performance dispersions is proving to be key to success in the industrial coatings sector.

To further extend its global activity as a leading innovator, AGM has also announced the issuance of Singaporean Patent No. 11202009960Q and Chinese Patent No., 2022022700253680 covering corrosion protection comprising one or more 2D material platelets for metallic substrates.

The patents reflect AGM’s commitment to the continuous development of its graphene dispersion and application technology platform.

It is pleasing to see the US trademark registration for our Genable dispersion brand, which is testament to AGM’s growing global presence and brand recognition. Having secured its distribution partnership with world class distributor Barentz in July 2020 (formerly Maroon Group), the Company has a direct route into the coatings and polymers sectors across the United States and Canada for its Genable products.

Overcoming the challenge of dispersing graphene nanoplatelets into formulations for protective coatings has been a significant area of development for AGM’s technical team, so I am also extremely pleased that this technology has now also been recognised with patent coverage in China and Singapore.

In collaboration with the French Corrosion Institute AGM has installed a series of steel panels coated in a range of graphene-enhanced paints as part of a long term environmental exposure testing programme.

When coatings are exposed outdoors, the effects of moisture, heat, and UV radiation can cause various components of the paint to degrade. All coatings that are expected to be used on outdoor surfaces should be tested in similar conditions to understand and confirm their performance over time.

The external exposure panel installation in Brest, France, will enable AGM products to be tested over the next 2 years in a challenging, real world tempered marine environment, in order to further validate the successful lab-based test results. The tests are all in line with ISO 8565 and EN 13521-19 standard with various exposure angles.

Monitoring variables such as anti-corrosion and barrier properties during and after exposure to harsh conditions will demonstrate the positive impact of AGM’s graphene additives on the performance of industrial paints and coatings.

Look out for updates on this installation going forward!

We’re pleased to announce the implementation of a key component of our technology roadmap following a successful grant application supported by the Tees Valley Business Growth Fund (TVBGF), which supports SMEs in the Tees Valley to grow their business, improve productivity and stimulate local growth.

After a decade in business, AGM has seen growth in many areas and has expanded its inhouse capabilities to meet increasing demand for its graphene nanoplatelet technology. The installation of a new paint and coatings spray booth facility using the funding secured will facilitate accelerated internal research and customer developments, offer additional specialist training opportunities for staff, and enable AGM to complete projects even more efficiently and with a broader scope.

Growth Fund grant programmes can provide a significant contribution towards the expansion of regional SMEs and can help them to compete on a national and an international level. The funding opportunity identified by AGM through the Tees Valley Combined Authority has resulted in around £47,500 being awarded to the Company.

The Tees Valley Business Growth Fund is managed by Tees Valley Business, which is the local growth hub for the Tees Valley, established by the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority. The fund is receiving support from the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.

Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen, said:

It is brilliant that the Tees Valley Business Growth Fund is helping this innovative manufacturer to accelerate its world-leading research and development, and to create sustainable solutions for graphene use in the industrial products of the future.

Once again our local businesses are at the cutting edge of industry and AGM, based on the Wilton site, is the latest in a long line of firms to share good news on the ground-breaking work going on right here in Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool.

The latest addition to AGM’s facility based at The Wilton Centre, Redcar, will supplement our existing comprehensive coatings capabilities and rigorous testing processes. AGM customers have direct access to its graphene dispersion expertise through its innovation accelerator programme, offering a unique end-to-end service for customer project development.

In a time of cancelled exhibitions European Coatings have set up a virtual ‘suppliers hub’ allowing access to video presentations about innovations of raw material.

Applied Graphene Materials used the presentation Lynn Chikosha delivered last year at European Coatings Show titled ‘novel, non-metal graphene nanoplatelet hybrid anti-corrosive system’.  This paper will discuss the extension of use of AGM’s graphene nanoplatelets into C4 and C5 type environments, benchmarking against zinc rich systems.  The objectives are:

  • Can graphene give significant uplifts in corrosion resistance when applied direct to substrates in C4/C5 environments.
  • Can performance of zinc rich systems be further extended by using a graphene enhanced tie-coat layer?

The full video presentation and results can be found by signing up on the European Coatings website.  Alternatively, you can download the presentation from our Knowledge Hub
